Ratify Reduction of 2017-2018 Water Rates and Charges
On April 12, during a special meeting of the Board of Directors, the Board ratified a revision of the District’s 2017-2018 Water Rates and Charges, retroactive to March 1, 2017. The initial rates for the 2017-2018 Water Rates and Charges were calculated based on the estimated amount of water the District would deliver in 2017-2018 under a 15 percent Central Valley Project (CVP) water supply allocation. Given Reclamation’s initial allocation announcement of 65 percent on March 22, 2017, and a revised estimate of the amount of water that will be delivered, the District’s portion of the Total Agricultural Water rate was reduced from $49.37 to $20.29. March deliveries were billed at the ratified rate of $223.97.
San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority Rate Reduction
The Board of Directors voted to reduce the District’s collection of the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority (SLDMWA) O&M water rate based on an anticipated rate reduction later this year. The SLDMWA O&M rate component will be reduced from $73.74 to $37.75 and is subject to change. The current estimated Total Agricultural Water rate including the SLDMWA reduction is currently projected at $187.98, and will be billed retroactive to March 1, 2017.
Section 215 Water Rate
The aforementioned Board actions will be reflected in the Section 215 water rate. The current estimated Section 215 water rate is $131.53. Growers are also encouraged to reduce their usage of groundwater pumping. If you have any questions concerning Section 215 water, please contact Jose Gutierrez at (559) 241-6215 or Russ Freeman at (559) 241-6241.
