The District received notification from the Department of Water Resources (DWR) that an application of Aquathol K for pondweed removal will take place at the O’Neill Forebay on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. This will be a spot-specific application and will not be applied to the entire O’Neill Forebay. DWR will collect water quality samples during the application and will notify the District of any abnormal test results.
To assist with the application, DWR has requested that water districts downstream of Check 13 (MP 70.85) reduce deliveries on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. For Westlands, DWR is targeting a flow of 600–700 cfs during this period. To help meet this target, water users with an active order during this window are asked to reduce their planned consumption by half (50%).
The District will notify water users of any updates or abnormal water quality results reported by DWR.
