Notice 718 is revised to correct the reimbursement amount to $62.36/AF. This revision is a result of the Board reducing water rates at its October 17, 2023 meeting from $68.42/AF to $62.36/AF.
At its October 17, 2023 meeting, the Board directed staff to develop a program to further incentivize growers to recharge water that if lost under the District’s Rescheduling policy, would expose growers to additional costs.
Under the 75/25 Program (Program), Water users will deliver, recharge and pay for their surface water and manage the recharge facilities and the District will reimburse participating Water Users $62.36/AF. Further, twenty-five percent (25%) of the groundwater credits developed by the program will be allocated to the Water User and seventy-five percent (75%) will be retained by the District.
Interested landowners with approved projects are asked to submit the attached agreement. Landowners should be aware that District staff will conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the approved recharge program and agreement.
As a reminder, the Board of Directors approved an expedited, single-page 2023-24 Groundwater Recharge Program Application that is automatically approved upon submittal for lands that are not drainage impaired and eligible for the private recharge facility program. Submission of a 2023 application does not obligate the water user to participate in the 75/25 Program recharge program nor to deliver surface water for recharge. All growers with approved projects are encouraged to apply.
