Due to extraordinary wet conditions and exceptional snowpack, the District anticipates that flood flows and/or Section 215 water from the Mendota Pool could be available this year.
The District is committed to utilizing flood flows and/or Section 215 water, if available from the Mendota Pool, and encourages landowners to cease operation of all groundwater wells and be prepared to receive Section 215 or flood flows for crop irrigation or to recharge the Westside Subbasin.
Attached is an agreement to request delivery of flood flows and/or Section 215 water. . The estimated cost of the flood flows and/or Section 215 water is $200 per acre-foot, and we anticipate that flood flows will cost less than Section 215 water. Growers will be obligated to pay all fees for the flood flows and/or Section 215 water made available to them. Flood flows and/or Section 215 water will be the first water delivered in a water user’s account.
If you need flood flows and/or Section 215 water, please complete the enclosed agreement, provide the volume of water requested on the “Amount Requested (AF)” line of the agreement and return it to the Fresno office by close of business on March 15, 2023. The agreement may be mailed to Westlands Water District, P.O. Box 6056, Fresno, CA 93703, or faxed to (559) 241-6276. You may also hand deliver the agreement to the District’s Fresno office at 3130 N. Fresno Street or scan and email it to: customeraccounting@wwd.ca.gov.
Agreements not received at the District or postmarked by the due date will not be considered timely. Late requests will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, after timely requests are filled.
