End of the Rescheduling Period (#578)

April 11, 2019

This notice regards:

  • End of the Rescheduling Period
  • Rescheduling Period Meter Readings
  • Adjusting Accounts-Internal Transfers

End of the Rescheduling Period

The Bureau of Reclamation announced the Rescheduling Period will end April 11, 2019 and it will apply “foregone pumping” loss to remaining water stored in San Luis Reservoir on April 12, 2019. Staff expects the application of forgone pumping loss, defined as Rescheduling Loss under the District’s rescheduling guidelines, will exhaust all remaining District water, about 100,000 (Acre-Feet) AF. Additionally, the District previously incurred about 31,000 AF in Cap Loss.

Per the District’s Rescheduling Policy, the District will apply Cap Loss and Rescheduling Loss, in that order, to water user accounts at the end of the Rescheduling Period. According to the District’s Rescheduling Policy, loss (whether Cap or Rescheduling) is prorated based on volume per acre, from highest to lowest, and is applied in the following order and manner:

  1. Any remaining Rescheduled Water in excess of the Acreage Based Cap (0.5 acre-feet per irrigable acre)
  2. Water rescheduled by the District
  3. Remaining Rescheduled Water
  4. Delivered Rescheduled Water in excess of the Acreage Based Cap
  5. Delivered Rescheduled Water within the Acreage Based Cap

As a reminder, if a water user loses water, the District will bill the water user all costs associated with the lost water. If you have any questions concerning the matter, please contact Russ Freeman at (559) 241-6241.

Rescheduling Period Meter Readings

The District began reading water meters for the end of the Rescheduling Period on April 10, 2019 and will continue until April 12, 2019. Water users may wish to provide end of Rescheduling Period agricultural meter readings for their account. Please complete the information requested below and fax to (559) 241-6276 or email to customeraccounting@wwd.ca.gov. Please verify the proper placement of any decimal points included in the reading.

Readings faxed to the Fresno Office on or before midnight April 12, 2019 will be used to determine Rescheduling Loss. Please call Customer Accounting at (559) 241-6250 if you have any questions about end of Rescheduling Period meter readings.
