Voluntary Emergency Shutdown Request
The District strongly encourages water users to voluntarily turn off wells enrolled in the Groundwater Management Program until Tuesday, July 31. The District received notification that the United States Bureau of Reclamation halted power generation at Keswick Dam (Shasta Reservoir). Lost power generation is due to damage caused by the Carr fire in Northern California. Day ahead power prices are expected to spike and could reach at least three times the cost of Base Resource power. The increase could be greater, depending on market conditions. The District will update this request on Monday, July 30.
